A Little About Me
Hi, I’m Aj Morrison. I’m the person behind Hidden Mountain Woodworks, and I’m lucky enough to spend my days making things out of wood.
I’ve always enjoyed working with my hands. Straight out of high school, I started out in bike shops as a mechanic. A few years later, I found myself working for a professional road racing team, travelling and working alongside some incredibly talented female cyclicsts, including national champtions and Olympic athletes. I loved the experience, but eventually I was ready for something a little more settled.
That led me into residential remodelling, working with a friend in Greenwood Village, Colorado who taught me more than I’m sure he ever realized. I discovered a real passion for building and working with wood, and what started as a new challenge, quickly became a career I loved.
In 2020, I asked a girl out for a beer, and six months later I put a ring on her finger. Just three months after that, she became my wife, and we started our journey together. After spending some time renting, we decided we wanted a place of our own and a change of scenery away from the Denver area. Somehow, we landed in Grand Junction, and couldn’t be happier here.
After moving to Grand Junction, I gradually started building a woodworking shop of my own. What began in the garage, grew into something much bigger, and in 2025, I moved into my own dedicated shop. It gave me the space to focus on what I enjoy most: creating custom cabinetry and furniture, working with beautiful materials and making things properly.
These days, most of my time is spent designing, building, and installing custom cabinetry, or building custom furniture. I enjoy being involved in every stage of the process and take a lot of pride in seeing an idea develop into something tangible.
Outside of the shop, life is pretty full with my wife and our three kids. We love getting outside, exploring the area, and making the most of everything Western Colorado has to offer.
Thanks for taking the time to get to know a little about me and the work I do. I hope you enjoy looking around, and if you have a project in mind, I’d love to hear about it. CHEERS!!
